Hi Amelie, thank you so much for reading my post!
Do you mean the NutraSea NutraVeg supplements? The active ingredient is algal oil (just over 1 gram per teaspoon). There is sunflower oil in there you are right, which is used to make it palatable and so they can add other ingredients such as the antioxidants to it does not go rancid. I estimate there is about 3 grams of sunflower oil per teaspoon which is not very much. There is nothing ‘bad’ about sunflower oil, it is just that too much is not ideal. I am in the process of researching other reputable brands for plant-based omega-3 but for now this is the best one I have found. I will keep you posted! Thanks again!
Hi Jack, Thank you for your information. Good to know there is a spirulina capsule out there. I haven’t read a lot of evidence on it but I will keep my eye out. Nutra Veg is a great algea based supplement that I am familiar with and as I understand their methods for removing contaminents is optimal.
]]>Hi Anette, for women the recommendation is 2-4g of LNA per day, this will convert to the minimum requirement of 650mg DHA and EPA :)
]]>That’s exactly right. There’s no RDIs set for omega 3 or ALA but research ha demonstrated that that is enough ALA for general Health. Thanks for stopping by!
]]>Hi JQ thanks fir the feedback. I previously had it as ALA but some got it confused with alpha lipoic acid. Some textbooks use LNA as the correct abbreviation, but you are right it may be more user friendly to switch back.
